Sheldon Woman Accused Of Reckless Use Of Fire, Possession Of Meth In Jail

Primghar, Iowa — A Sheldon woman has been charged with a felony contraband count after her recent arrest on other charges.

The Sheldon Police Department has charged 42-year-old Rachael Holz with reckless use of fire, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of a controlled substance in a correctional institution in a filing with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court. She was arrested on Saturday.

In his statement, the officer says a neighbor summoned officers because Holz was allegedly burning clothes and other materials outside the neighbor’s home and was only three feet from a garage. The officer says that Holz was allegedly in an “altered” state during the incident. While Holz was being medically cleared by the hospital, the officer says hospital staff found a small bag with contents that tested positive for marijuana. As she was being booked into jail, a white crystal substance was allegedly found, which tested positive for methamphetamine.

Holz was charged with possession of contraband in a correctional facility, a class D felony. If convicted, she could face up to five years in prison. She is also charged with misdemeanor counts of possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, reckless use of fire or explosives, interference with official acts, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

She faces a preliminary hearing on June 1st.

At last report, Holz remained in the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar in lieu of bond.
