Apartment Dumpster Totaled In Sioux Center Blaze

Sioux Center, Iowa — A trash dumpster was totaled in a fire on Sunday, May 10, 2026, in Sioux Center.

According to Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland, at about 6:20 p.m., the Sioux Center Fire Department was called to the report of a dumpster fire at an apartment complex at 1859 13th Avenue Southeast in Sioux Center.

When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw the dumpster fully engulfed, which they quickly put out.

Van Holland says no injuries were reported.

He says someone must have disposed of something hot in the dumpster, which was totaled in the blaze. He says the plastic lid was completely melted.

He tells us the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about half an hour.
