Alton, Iowa — A Texan was taken to a Sioux County hospital after a crash in Alton on Monday, July 20th, 2026.
The Orange City Police Department reports that about 12:05 p.m., 90-year-old Jerome Steve Kellen of Alton was westbound on Highway 10 in a 2021 GMC Sierra 1500. The report says he had stopped in traffic waiting to turn left onto East Division Street in Alton. The report says Kellen began making a left turn and turned in front of an eastbound gray 2025 Chevrolet Tahoe driven by 43-year-old Lindsay Kaye Thompson of San Angelo, Texas. The two vehicles collided in the intersection.
The Alton Ambulance took Thompson to the Orange City Area Health System.
The Kellen GMC sustained approximately $35,000 in damage. The Thompson Chevrolet sustained approximately $40,000 in damage.
Kellen was cited on a charge of failure to yield.
The Orange City Police Department tells us Alton Fire and EMS personnel, the Orange City Fire Department, the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, and C&H Body Repair assisted with the response to the crash.
