Sibley, Iowa — A Sibley man has been arrested on a felony OWI charge.

A criminal complaint filed by the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in district court accuses 36-year-old Seth Stevens of Sibley of driving drunk. He was arrested last week.

In his statement, the deputy says this was related to a domestic incident that he was investigating. And that when the deputy was returning to a home, Stevens was seen pulling out of the driveway. The deputy tried to stop him, but he alleges that Stevens drove at a high rate of speed before meeting another deputy also with lights flashing and sirens activated. He says Stevens continued to drive down the road and turn onto a gravel road. At that point, Stevens’ vehicle was blocked in, says the deputy. He says he detected the odor of alcoholic beverage coming from Stevens, and he says he also saw multiple other signs of impairment.

Stevens was charged with operating while intoxicated, third or subsequent offense, a class D felony. If convicted, he could face up to five years in prison.

A preliminary hearing has been set for October 23rd.

Stevens was booked into the Osceola County Jail in Sibley and was released on Wednesday after posting bond.
