Sioux Center Firefighters Put Out Two Combines Wednesday

Sioux Center, Iowa — There are at least two fewer combines in the fields around Sioux Center today after two combine fires on Wednesday.

Sioux Center Fire Chief David Van Holland says the first one was near 430th Street and Harrison Avenue, three miles south of Sioux Center Health. He says the combine received significant damage in the blaze, but nothing else of value burned and no one was injured.

The second fire was similar, says Van Holland. That one was east of Garfield Avenue on 400th Street. That’s four miles west of Sioux Center Health — or three miles west of the 9th Street South stoplight. Van Holland says in this fire, the combine was all burned up and completely totaled by the flames.

No official cause has been determined in either fire.

Van Holland says that just like their Sheldon counterparts, they’re hosting a burger feed this Thursday night too at their fire station. You are invited to either the Sheldon or Sioux Center fire stations for burger feeds and a chance to support your local fire department during this, National Fire Prevention Week.
