(KIWA Staff Photo)Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — A Sioux Center man faces a felony charge after authorities allege he failed to report a change in employment as required by the Iowa Sex Offender Registry.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 26-year-old Jacob Mathew Trammel was arrested around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, August 22nd.
Officer Allegedly Observed Trammel at New Job
According to a criminal complaint, a Sioux County deputy was off duty on August 14th when he saw Trammel working at McDonald’s on North Main Avenue in Sioux Center.
The deputy recognized Trammel through his duties supervising the Iowa Sex Offender Registry. The complaint identifies Trammel as a Tier 1 sex offender, required to report any employment change to the sheriff’s office within three business days.
The deputy reviewed Trammel’s registry information and found his only listed employer was a Shell gas station. No employment at McDonald’s had been reported.
Authorities say the same deputy was on duty August 22nd when he again observed Trammel working at McDonald’s. When contacted, Trammel allegedly acknowledged he had started working there more than a week earlier and said he forgot to notify the sheriff’s office.
Complaint Cites Previous Conviction
Court documents say Trammel was previously convicted of a sex offender registry violation in Sioux County District Court on December 5th, 2024.
Trammel was transported to the Sioux County Jail and charged with a second or subsequent sex offender registry violation, a Class D felony.
He was released on Saturday after posting a $5,000 bond.
