Sioux Center, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) — Three people are facing multiple charges following a drug investigation that led to the execution of a search warrant at a Sioux Center residence late last month.
According to court documents, the arrests stem from an investigation on April 23rd at a home on 400th Street.
Heidi Hooyer Faces Multiple Felony Charges
Authorities say 46-year-old Heidi Lynn Hooyer of Sioux Center was taken into custody on May 3rd and now faces several alleged charges, including felony counts of:
- Two counts of possession with intent to deliver marijuana (less than 50 kilograms)
- Two counts of failure to affix a drug tax stamp
- Three counts of Intent to deliver medical cannabidiol without a license
She also faces misdemeanor charges of
- Accessory after the fact
- Possession of marijuana
- Possession of Cannabiniol
Court records allege Hooyer actively assisted a wanted fugitive for about a year. Investigators say she warned the individual about police presence and provided marijuana, THC products, and financial support.
Authorities also allege Hooyer supplied controlled substances to her adult children and possessed large quantities of marijuana, THC wax, and drug paraphernalia at the residence. She was released after posting a $5,000 bond on Sunday. If convicted of a class D felony, she could face five years in prison per charge.
Chayce Hooyer Charged With Drug Possession
Also arrested was 24-year-old Chayce Thaniel Hooyer of Sioux Center, who faces multiple alleged misdemeanor charges, including:
- Possession of a controlled substance (marijuana)
- Possession of cannabidiol
- Possession of drug paraphernalia
According to court documents, investigators found marijuana, cannabidiol, and paraphernalia in his bedroom during the search. He initially denied ownership before admitting to possession. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond on Sunday.
Brian Hooyer Charged With Prescription Drug Violation
A third individual, 49-year-old Brian Dale Hooyer of Sioux Center, was also arrested.
He is charged with alleged unlawful possession of a prescription drug, a serious misdemeanor, after authorities say he was found with Tramadol that had been prescribed to someone else.
Court records indicate Brian Hooyer admitted to possessing the medication, telling officers he used it for back pain. He was released after posting a $1,000 bond on Sunday.
Authorities say the search warrant that led to the arrests was based on information gathered during a prior investigation.
It should be noted that a criminal charge is merely an accusation, and the defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
