(KIWA Staff Photo)College Park, Indiana (RI) — The Dordt University football team opens the season Friday night on the road at Indiana Wesleyan.
The Defenders enter the fall ranked eighth in the preseason NAIA Poll and return significant experience from last year’s team, which finished 10-1 and reached the NAIA playoffs.
That’s Dordt coach Joel Penner, who has several playmakers back from an offense that averaged more than 38 points per game.
Dordt also returns nine starters from a defense that allowed fewer than 100 rushing yards per game.
Penner says depth will be important if the Defenders hope to make a deep postseason run.
