Dordt Softball Opens GPAC Season On Saturday

Sioux Center, Iowa — Dordt opens GPAC softball play on Saturday, March 20 at 2:00 pm against Dakota Wesleyan at Open Space Park in Sioux Center. The games will be part of a doubleheader.

Dakota Wesleyan is 8-8 this season and have been on the losing end of three straight games.

The Tigers are batting .336 as a team while opponents are batting .400. Dakota Wesleyan has scored 119 runs and has allowed 119 runs this season. Alyssa Garcia is batting a team best .472 this season with 25 hits and has three homeruns with 24 runs batted in. Alyssa Burke is batting .429 with 24 hits and Stephanie Gabel has a .356 batting average with 21 runs batted in and three homeruns.

Alyssa Burke is 3-0 with a 4.87 earned run average with 27 innings pitched and has 30 strikeouts. Kyllie Ramierez is 3-3 and Devany Farris is 2-3. Farris leads the team in innings pitched with 36 and as 16 strikeouts.

Dordt is 11-11 after its Florida tripstarting the week with a 2-4 record on the road swing. The Defenders are batting .295 as a team and opponents are batting .265 against the Defenders. Dordt has outscored teams 89-61.

Kenzie Cunard is batting .351 with a team high 26 hits and she has four doubles with 14 hits. Jessica Oules has 24 hits and Hannah Sikkema 20 and both are batting over .390. Cunard leads the team with 14 runs batted in and she has eight stolen bases. Rachel Evavold has 14 this and five doubles while Chandler Schemper has 13 hits with seven stolen bases.

Abby Kraemer is 5-4 on the mound with a 1.67 earned run average and she has 67 innings pitched with 83 strikeouts. Rachel Evavold is 4-2 with a 2.81 earned run average and she has 26 strikeouts in 42 innings.

Dordt is scheduled to travel to Northwestern on March 24 at 5:00 and will be on the road to play Midland on March 27 at 1:00. Both are conference doubleheaders.
