Dordt Sweeps GPAC Cross Country Honors

(Sioux City, Iowa) – The Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) and Hauff Mid-America Sports are proud to announce the following Cross Country Runners-of-the-Week for October 4-10, 2021. Hauff Mid-America Sports is the presenting sponsor of the 2021-2022 GPAC Players-of-the-Week and Players and Coaches-of-the-Year awards program.

Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Cross Country Runners-of-the Week

Women – Jessica Kampman, Dordt University

Jessica Kampman of Dordt University is this week’s GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Kampman, a junior from Abbotsford, British Columbia, helped lead Dordt to a second-place finish at its home meet last weekend, the Defenders Holiday Inn Express Classic. Kampman once again was the top NAIA runner in the field, finishing fourth overall with a 5K time of 18:50. She has three top 10 finishes this season and has been her team’s No.1 runner in each of her four meets.

Men – Jacob Vander Plaats, Dordt University

Jacob Vander Plaats of Dordt University is the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Men’s Cross Country Runner-of-the-Week. Vander Plaats, a senior from Sioux Center, Iowa, was the top NAIA runner at last weekend’s meet, the Defenders Holiday Inn Express Classic. Vander Plaats finished second overall, behind an unattached runner, with an 8K time of 25:17. He helped lead the Defenders to the team title with a near-perfect team score (18).
