Des Moines, Iowa — Drake’s Darian DeVries has been named the Missouri Valley Coach of the Year. DeVries has led the Bulldogs to a 24-3 record and a second place finish in the Valley regular season race.
They open the Valley Tournament on Friday against the winner of tonight’s game between UNI and Illinois State.
He expects a good challenge from either team.
The Bulldogs figure to have a good shot at an NCAA at-large bid no matter how they finish in St. Louis.
It is the second time in three years at Drake that DeVries has won the award.
