Hurt has qualified for the Iowa High School State Cross Country Championship Meet four times–the first Le Mars runner to do so, and finished 15th in 2015 with a time of 19:46. Hurt is a four-time all-Lakes Conference honoree and she ran 17th at the Senior All Star Meet held in November 2018. She’s qualified for the state track and field meet in the 3,000 meters in both 2015 and 2016 and was a part of a conference champion cross country team in 2018.

Her personal bests are 11:04 in the 3,000 meters and 5:08 in the 1,500 meters. She ran a 19:36 on a 5,000 meter cross country course in 2017.

“I am excited that Maddie has announced her decision to attend Dordt and be part of the Defender Cross Country and Track & Field teams. She is a tough and talented runner that competes fiercely. She has had great success in high school and has been able to run with talented teammates and has had solid coaching as a Le Mars Bulldog. I look forward to her impact on our team and I am excited to work with her over the next four years,” said Dordt cross country coach and assistant track and field coach Nate Wolf.

Madeline is the daughter of Dale and Julie Hurt of Le Mars, Iowa. She plans to study Elementary Education at Dordt.
