Tyson Kooima was named the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC) Football Offensive Player of the Week as announced by the league office earlier today.
Kooima accounted for 359 yards of total offense in leading the Red Raiders to a 63-26 road win over Briar Cliff last weekend. The freshman completed 20-of-26 passes for 284 yards and three touchdowns while also rushing for an additional 75 yards and a score. Kooima directed a Red Raider offense that gained over 500 yards for the second time this season and matched the third most points scored in a single game in program history.
On the season, Kooima has completed 64% of his passes and thrown 12 touchdowns against just one interception. No.19 Northwestern improved to 2-0 in the GPAC, 4-0 overall.
