Pickup Destroyed In Orange City Fire

Orange City, Iowa — A pickup was totaled in a fire on Monday night, May 6, 2024, in Orange City.

Orange City Fire Chief Dan Roghair says that at about 10:20 p.m., the Orange City Fire Department was called to the report of a vehicle fire near 616 17th Street Southeast in Orange City.

Roghair tells us the fire department saw that the pickup was fully engulfed as they approached the scene. He says they made quick work of the fire, and that no injuries were reported.

The Alton Fire Department is paged to all Orange City Fires, but once they found out the storage unit building nearby was at a low risk of starting on fire, they told the Alton firefighters that they could go back to Alton.

He says the cause of the fire is undetermined, but he says it started somewhere in the front half of the vehicle.

Chief Roghair says it took them about 30 minutes to finish up on the scene.
