Local Iowa Football Players Helping Support Haiti School Through Rock Rapids Fundraiser

Rock Rapids, Iowa (Sioux County Radio) – A pair of northwest Iowa natives and Iowa Hawkeye football players will be back in Rock Rapids Wednesday night for a community fundraiser supporting children and families in Haiti.

The Hawks for Haiti community tailgate will run from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. tonight (Wednesday, May 27th) at the Central Lyon Activity Center. The event will include a free-will tailgate dinner, raffle prizes, a bake sale, and a meet-and-greet with Iowa football players Zach Lutmer and Reece Vander Zee from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Proceeds from the event will support Touch of Hope and its community school in Haiti.

Lutmer says being part of events like this is important because it allows him and Vander Zee to help others while also giving back.

Lutmer also praised the Rock Rapids community for consistently rallying around causes and creating opportunities for athletes to stay connected with local families and younger fans.

He says learning more about Touch of Hope’s work in Haiti made joining the fundraiser an easy decision.

Organizers say all proceeds from Wednesday’s event will go toward supporting the Haiti ministry and school efforts through Touch of Hope.
