Morningside Bids For Second Straight NAIA Crown

It will be a one versus two showdown in Louisiana Saturday when top ranked Morningside takes on number two Marian of Indiana in the NAIA Championship game at Grambling University. It will match a Morningside offense that averages better than 35 points per game against a Marian defense that gives up less than nine points per contest.

That’s Morningside coach Steve Ryan. The Mustangs are in search of their second straight national title and are coming off a hard fought win over Grand View in the semifinals.

This is Morningside’s third appearance in the championship game and Ryan calls them a unique experience.

Marian beat Morningside 30-27 in overtime in the 2012 championship.
