Red Raider Women Host DSU In Final Prep Before GPAC Play

The Northwestern College women’s basketball team hosts Dakota State for one final non-conference game and tune-up prior to GPAC play this weekend. Tip-off on Wednesday night is set for 6pm.

Northwestern is 0-2 this season and Dakota State brings a 2-2 record into Wednesday night.

DSU owns a 2-2 record this season, 2-1 against teams ranked in the top 25 based on the preseason coaches poll. They opened the season with a loss to Grand View but came back with wins against ranked GPAC teams, Dordt and Concordia. The Lady T’s then lost to #20 Carroll (Mont.) 69-65 in the final game of the Cattle Classic.

Moe, a former assistant at his alma mater, Mayville State, is in his fourth year as the head of the Dakota State program. He was named the North Star Athletic Association Coach of the Year last spring after leading DSU to its first winning season (17-14) since 2007-08. Moe returns four starters and 10 players from last year’s team; this year’s squad was picked to finish second in the NSAA preseason poll.

Northwestern has won eight straight games in the rivalry and leads the all-time series 11-1, dating back to the 2005 season. December of 2018 was the last time they played with the Raiders winning, 103-52.

Northwestern owns an 0-2 record after losses to Sterling and Grand View last weekend.
