Sheldon Sweeps The Generals

Sibley, Iowa — The Sheldon girls got their first win of the year with a 52-36 win over Sibley-Ocheyedan, and the Orab boys won 68-43.

The girls game was a heated battle in the first half. After one it was tied 9-9, and heading into the half Sheldon had a slight 22-19 lead. The Orabs would then create some separation. The Orabs held the Generals to only three third quarter points on their way to a 35-22 lead. Sheldon then put the game away in the fourth quarter and came away with the 52-36 win.

Sheldon got a game high ten points from Brooklyn Grady, eight other Orabs got in the score book as well. Sibley-Ocheyedan got a game high twelve points from Megan Grimes.

Sheldon improves to 1-7 on the year, 1-6 in the Siouxland. Sibley-Ocheyedan falls to 0-7 on the year and in the conference.

The Sheldon boys went on an 8-0 run early in the first quarter but Sibley-Ocheyedan battled back and after one quarter it was 15-11 Sheldon. Sheldon went on another 10-0 run in the second quarter and had a 37-23 lead heading into the break. The story of the first half was the Orab’s Jaden Kleinhesselink and Sibley-Ocheyedan’s Grant Brouwer each having 16 1st half points. Sheldon would extend their third quarter lead 55-36, and come away with the 68-43 victory.

Sheldon had three players in double figures. Kleinhesselink had a team high nineteen points, Ryan Van Marel had sixteen and Kyle Boehave added thirteen. The Generals got a game high twenty-one points from Brouwer.

Sheldon improves to 6-1 on the year, 5-1 in the conference. The Generals fall to 2-4 on the year and in the Siouxland.

Up next for the Orabs is a home contest against G-LR on Tuesday. Next for the Generals is home game Saturday against Ellsworth.
