The Special Olympics Track and Field Spring Games will be held Saturday, April 13, 2019 at the Sioux Center Athletic Field. Due to the weather the games have been moved indoors to Dordt’s Gym and Rec Center. Opening ceremonies will begin at 9:30 am. The track and field events begin at 9:45 and the last relay is scheduled for 1:15 pm.
There are 375 athletes registered to participate from the ages of 8 to 70 years old. The counties for athletes are Lyon, Osceola, Sioux, O’Brien, Plymouth, Cherokee, Woodbury, Ida, Monona, and Crawford for our Special Olympic NW District area. Athletes may participate in 2 events and then also run with a relay team. There are over 180 volunteers who help to make the day a great success.
First place winners will compete in Ames on May 23-25 at the Special Olympics State Summer Games.
