Men’s Soccer — Saturday, August 29th vs. Anoka-Ramsey Community College
The Thunder men’s soccer team earned a 2–0 victory over Anoka-Ramsey Community College, improving to 2–1 on the season.
NCC controlled much of the match and scored both goals in the first half. The first goal came off a free kick when Tuur Devroey played a ball through to Cian Wright, who finished into the bottom corner past the Anoka-Ramsey goalkeeper.
Shortly after, Vinnie Loosemore took a quick corner kick to a wide-open Leslie Musaka, who fired a shot from outside the 18-yard box past the goalkeeper to account for the final score as the Thunder defense solidified the shutout.

Men’s Golf — The War at the Moor | Creston, Iowa
NCC Thunder Men’s Golf made program history at its first competition at The War at the Moor in Creston, Iowa.
The one-day, 18-hole event marked the first collegiate golf competition in NCC history. The Thunder varsity team finished 9th overall, while the JV team finished 10th. Five golfers competed on each team, with the four lowest scores counting toward the team total.
Carson Arens and Karson Hoogendoorn led the varsity, each shooting an 80. Their rounds now stand as the lowest individual scores in NCC men’s golf history. Branden Puhrman led the JV team with an 86.
Daxton Myler also earned his place in the Thunder record books by hitting the first competitive shot in NCC men’s golf history.
The Thunder battled challenging conditions throughout the day, including extremely sloped greens, trees and hills. Coach Tom Rupp praised the team’s attitude and effort as the golfers worked through a physically and mentally demanding first competition.
Volleyball — August 25th–26th
The Thunder continued to show improvement in matches against Northwestern College JV and Kirkwood Community College.
Against Northwestern, NCC showed progress in serve-receive and defense compared to the teams’ previous meeting. The Thunder also served more aggressively, helping take Northwestern out of its offensive system.
Against Kirkwood, NCC played what Coach Mark Kirlin considered its best set of the season in the opening game. Serve-receive continued to improve and the Thunder maintained an aggressive approach from the service line.
The coaching staff also credited the team’s continued improvement to the work student-athletes have been putting in during practice.
