Rock Rapids, Iowa — A Lyon County Deputy who was airlifted to a Sioux Falls hospital in the aftermath of a single-vehicle crash Friday morning, remains in the hospital Monday.

KIWA talked to Lyon County Sheriff Stewart Vander Stoep Monday morning, and he says there is nothing new to report at this time. The Sheriff DID say that his department has been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support they’ve received from law enforcement agencies throughout the area. He says the “Blue Family” has pulled together in offering support, as well as any assistance that the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office might need.

The deputy, whose name hasn’t officially been released, was injured Friday morning when her patrol SUV left the roadway to the left, entered the ditch, vaulted a private driveway, and rolled, coming to rest on the driver’s side on the gravel driveway, according to the Iowa State Patrol, the agency investigating the crash.

Troopers say the crash remains under investigation, and a Technical Investigation is being conducted.
