Archer Accident Sends Two To Hospital

Archer, Iowa– A Glidden teen and a Marcus man were taken to the hospital after an accident near Archer on Monday, August 7, 2023.

The Iowa State Patrol reports that at about 10:30 a.m., 18-year-old Noah Feilmeier of Glidden was driving a 1992 Chevy pickup westbound on 390th Street, three miles west and two south of Archer. They tell us that 53-year-old Matthew Simons of Marcus was northbound on Nettle Avenue in a 2004 GMC Envoy.

The report says that Feilmeier pulled out from a stop sign to turn northbound and pulled out in front of the Simons vehicle. It says Simons was unable to avoid Feilmeier’s pickup and hit the back of it. Simons’ vehicle entered the east ditch where it rolled, landing on its wheels.

The Sheldon Community Ambulance Team took Feilmeier to Sanford Sheldon Hospital. The Hospers Ambulance took Simons to Sanford Sheldon Hospital. Their injuries were termed “non-life threatening.”

The preliminary report doesn’t list how much damage was caused to each vehicle.

The trooper says the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, Hospers Ambulance, and Sheldon Fire and Ambulance assisted on the scene, as did two other troopers.
