Barn Roof Damaged In Fire Near Hull On Sunday

Hull, Iowa — A barn was damaged in a fire on Sunday, August 27, 2023, near Hull.

According to Hull Fire Chief Greg Van Roekel, at about 4:10 p.m., the Hull Fire Department was called to the report of a barn fire at 3467 Hickory Avenue, two and a half miles south of Hull on K52.

The chief says the fire department saw shingles on fire on the roof as they approached the scene.

Van Roekel says no injuries were reported.

The Rock Valley Fire Department is automatically paged to structure fires in the Hull Fire District, and vice versa, but Van Roekel tells us he radioed to tell them they wouldn’t need their help this time.

He says the cause of the fire appeared to be sparks from a burn pile.

Chief Van Roekel reports that there was minor damage.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about a half hour.
