Hospers, Iowa — Four people were injured in an accident on Saturday, April 1st near Hospers.
According to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, a few minutes before 10:00 a.m., 23-year-old Logan Kollbaum of Anthon was driving a 2010 Freightliner northbound on Highway 60 in Hospers. They say 65-year-old Judith McCord of Spencer was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Express van westbound on 400th Street.
They tell us that McCord entered the intersection and the two struck.
The Hospers Ambulance took McCord to Orange City Area Health for treatment of what were called “minor” injuries. The Granville Ambulance took a passenger in the Express van, 64-year-old Byron Smith Sr. of Spencer to Orange City Area Health. His injuries were also termed “minor.”
Kollbaum and a passenger in the Freightliner, 23-year-old Carlos Inigo Ransom of Sioux City, were both transported by private vehicle to Sanford Sheldon Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.
The Freightliner sustained approximately $20,000 in damage. The Chevrolet sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage.
McCord was cited on a charge of failure to obey a stop sign.
The sheriff’s office tells us the Hospers Ambulance Squad, Granville Ambulance Squad, the Hospers Fire Department, and the Iowa Department of Transportation assisted with the response to the accident.
