Sheldon, Iowa — A Sheldon man has been arrested on drug and other charges.
According to a criminal complaint filed with the O’Brien County Clerk of Court’s Office by the Sheldon Police Department, 18-year-old Samy Chavez Ramirez of Sheldon is accused of assaulting a minor female victim and smoking THC products with her. He was arrested on Monday.
In his statement, the officer says police were called by an uninvolved third party who heard fighting and crying. The officer says the argument became physical. While investigating, the victim said she had used marijuana with Chavez Ramirez in the past 24 hours.
Chavez Ramirez was charged with conspiracy to deliver a controlled substance to a minor, a class D felony. If convicted, Chavez Ramirez could face up to five years in prison. He also faces misdemeanor charges of assault causing bodily injury and possession of marijuana.
He faces a preliminary hearing on June 8th.
Chavez Ramirez was booked into the O’Brien County Jail in Primghar and was released the next day after posting bond.
