Cherokee Woman Killed in Eastern Iowa Crash

Waterloo, Iowa (KTIV) — A young woman from Cherokee, Iowa, was killed in a traffic crash in the eastern part of the state.

According to the crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, 22-year-old Kiersten Ryherd from Cherokee was killed on Monday, May 18th.

The crash report states that around 11 a.m., Ryherd was traveling south on Sergeant Road in Waterloo when she collided with a vehicle driven by 50-year-old Cory Brown, who was traveling north.

Brown was treated for minor injuries.

Ryherd was taken to Waterloo’s Mercy One hospital in critical condition, where she died.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
