Granville Woman Jailed For Felony Child Endangerment

Granville, Iowa — A Granville mother is in jail, accused of endangering her child on multiple occasions, according to the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office.

According to court records, an 11-month old child was received into the Orange City Hospital for a dislocated elbow. According to authorities, the examination also revealed several fractures to the child’s arm. The child’s mother, 20-year-old Christina Fivecoate-Champion, reportedly stated that the child fell in his crib, with his arm between the crib rails, causing the injury. Authorities say the injuries were not consistent with his mother’s explanation.

Court records indicate that a medical evaluation performed at Sanford’s Children’s Hospital allegedly revealed other injuries occurring within recent weeks of the elbow dislocation, which is alleged to indicate a pattern of abuse.

This past Sunday, November 14th, Sioux County authorities arrested Fivecoate-Champion on two counts of Child Endangerment with Serious Injury, which are Class C Felonies. According to online court records, a Preliminary Hearing is scheduled for December 6th in Sioux County Magistrate Court.

As of mid-afternoon Tuesday, Fivecoate-Champion remained in the Sioux County Jail, according to online jail records.
