Hawarden, Iowa — A 63-year-old Hawarden man was injured Friday morning when the motorcycle he was riding struck a deer.
According to a report from the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office, 63-year-old William Dixson of Hawarden was riding a 2004 Yamaha XV1700A motorcycle southbound on Highway 10 when he struck a deer on the roadway.
Sioux County authorities say Dixson was transported to the Hawarden Hospital by the Hawarden Ambulance for treatment of what the report described as “minor injuries.”
Deputies estimate the damage to Dixson’s bike at $4,000.
Sioux County deputies were assisted at the scene by the Hawarden Ambulance, Hawarden Fire Department and Hawarden Police Department.
