Primghar, Iowa — A house in Gaza and its contents were destroyed in a fire on Wednesday morning, October 27, 2021.
According to Primghar Fire Chief Gary Lansink, about 5:00 a.m., the Primghar Fire Department was called to the report of a house fully engulfed at 4344 Tabor Avenue in the village of Gaza, two miles south, two and a quarter east, and a half-mile south of Primghar.
The chief says the fire department saw flames all the way from Primghar. He says when they arrived, the house was already 85 to 90 percent destroyed. He says by that time there was really nothing left to save.
Lansink says no injuries were reported, as the resident was out of town at the time of the fire.
The fire department was assisted by Paullina and Sutherland firefighters who provided both water and manpower.
He says the cause of the fire is undetermined.
Chief Lansink reports that the house and all its contents were destroyed in the blaze.
He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene until 7:30 a.m., but were called back in the late morning for a flare-up, which Lansink says two firefighters and a grass rig put out.
