Osceola Sheriff Car 72-2Osceola County, Iowa — Three accidents occurred over the weekend in Osceola County.

On Friday, December 2nd, 54-year-old Lisa Ann Doorenbos of Boyden was driving a 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander eastbound on Highway 9 on Friday at about 7:28 pm. According to the report, Doorenbos struck a deer on the roadway, about a half mile east of Nettle Avenue.

The Outlander received $2,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.

An unknown driver left the scene of an accident after his SUV went airborne on Sunday, December 4th.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 12:38 am on Sunday, an unknown individual was driving a 1996 Ford Explorer registered to Patrick Conry of Melvin was northbound on Highway 59, by 260th Street. According to the report, the driver lost control went onto the east shoulder and lost control. The Explorer went across the highway into the west ditch, collided with a field driveway and went airborne. The report states, it appeared the driver attempted to drive the vehicle out of the ditch but was unsuccessful and abandoned the vehicle.

The Explorer received $5000 damage.

The accident remains under investigation.

A Sheldon teen escaped injury after falling asleep at the wheel on Sunday, December 4th.

The Osceola County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 10:50 pm on Sunday, Donovan Creed Miller of Sheldon was driving a 2002 GMC Envoy southbound on Highway 60, near 250th Street. According to the report, Miller stated he may have fallen asleep causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and collide with the guardrail.

The GMC received $7,500 damage; the guardrail received $1,000 damage.

No injuries were reported.
