Alta, Iowa (RI) — Buena Vista County authorities have arrested a local business owner on a harassment charge following an incident inside an Alta tavern over the weekend.
According to online court documents and a criminal complaint filed Sunday, 43-year-old Ryan Dean Diischer of Aurelia — owner of Century Bar in Alta — was booked after a sheriff’s deputy documented an alleged threatening and racially charged statement made inside the business.
The report states that around 10:55 p.m. Saturday, Diischer had personal contact with a women identified as the victim and allegedly said, “I am going to rape the next Mexican girl I see.” The victim told the deputy she did not know Diischer and was visibly upset, crying, and scared by the comment.
Diischer was arrested and charged with harassment, a simple misdemeanor under Iowa law. The charge was filed Sunday.
Court records show Diischer entered a not-guilty plea on Monday. He is scheduled to make an initial court appearance on September 16th.
