Primghar, Iowa — A 67-year-old Primghar man was taken to the hospital in the aftermath of a single-vehicle crash early Tuesday evening.
According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, around 6:15 Tuesday evening Jeffery Hatterman, of Primghar, was eastbound in the 5600 mile of 390th Street in a 1996 Ford Ranger pickup when a medical issue caused him to lose consciousness. Deputies say Hatterman’s pickup then left the roadway, entered the south ditch and struck a No Passing Zone sign before striking a utility pole, which caused the truck to roll onto its driver’s side.
Hatterman was transported by the Primghar Ambulance to MercyOne in Primghar.
Deputies say Hatterman’s pickup was totaled in the crash. They estimate damage to the No Passing Zone Sign, which is owned by O’Brien County, at $100, while damage to the Northwest REC utility pole is estimated at $1,200.
