Sanborn, Iowa– The Sanborn Fire Department was called out on Saturday, September 3, 2022, for the report of fire in a wall of a home.
According to Sanborn Fire Chief Chad Lyman, at about 9:15 a.m., the Sanborn Fire Department was called to 801 Summit Street in northwest Sanborn.
The chief says the fire department saw a dryer outlet had burned in the wall. He says when they arrived the circuit breaker had tripped and stopped the initial issue, but he says the outlet was ruined and part of the wall was charred. He says they didn’t end up spraying any water, but they helped the occupant by ventilating the smoke out of the house.
Lyman says no injuries were reported.
He says the cause of the fire appeared to be that the outlet was faulty due to age.
Chief Lyman reports the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about half an hour.
Sheldon firefighters also had a fire call on Saturday, at about 3:15 p.m. Assistant Fire Chief Brad Hindt says it was a grass fire near a creek bed. He says firefighters extinguished the flames and were back in service within an hour.
