George, Iowa — A Sibley man was taken to a hospital after an accident near George on Wednesday morning, December 26, 2018.
The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office reports that about 7:00 a.m., 23-year-old Jake E. Peterson of Sibley was driving a 2010 Ford Edge eastbound in the 4600 Block of 210th Street, about six miles east of George, and they say he had fallen asleep.
Authorities say the vehicle then left the road and entered the ditch coming to rest in a cornfield.
The Lyon County Ambulance took Peterson to Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley.
Peterson’s Ford sustained about $5,000 damage, according to the report.
The Sheriff’s Office says the George Emergency Medical Service, the George Fire Department, and the Lyon County Ambulance Squad assisted with the response to the collision.
