Sibley Teen Injured In Monday Collision

Sibley, Iowa — A Sibley teen was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon, following a 2-vehicle collision in Sibley.

According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, the mishap occurred shortly before 4:30 Monday afternoon.

Deputies say the crash happened at the intersection of 7th Street and 8th Avenue in Sibley, when a 2011 Ford Edge, registered to Brooke Thompson of Sibley, and driven by 17-year-old Jasmine Thompson was eastbound on 7th Street. According to authorities, a 2016 GMC Yukon, driven y 69-year-old Joanne Klaassen of Sibley, was southbound on 8th Avenue and allegedly failed to yield to Thompson’s vehicle, causing the two to collide in the intersection.

Deputies estimate damage to Thompson’s Edge at about $10,000, with damage to Klaassen’s SUV estimated at about $3,000.

Thompson was transported to the Osceola Regional Health Center by the Sibley Ambulance.

Klaassen was issued a citation for Failure to Yield, according to deputies.
