Troopers Blame Texting For Lyon County Crash

Inwood, Iowa — A two-vehicle crash east of Inwood Monday afternoon is being blamed on a texting driver.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, the crash happened when a westbound 1998 Chevrolet pickup, driven by 21-year old Trevor Parks of Inwood crossed the center line and sideswiped an eastbound 2004 Chevrolet pickup driven by 42-year old Jason Doherty of Larchwood.

Troopers say the crash happened while Parks was texting on his phone.

No injuries were reported in the crash. According to authorities, Parks was charged with Driving on the Wrong Side of a Two-Way Highway, and Using an Electronic Communication Device.

Troopers estimate damage to Parks’ truck at $10-thousand, with Doherty’s pickup sustaining $4-thousand in damage.
