Primghar, Iowa — Four people were transported to the hospital following a one-vehicle rollover accident that happened earlier this week.
The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office says the accident happened when 36-year old Joanna Bennett, of Primghar, was westbound on 390th Street in a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer. According to authorities, the section of 390th Street where the accident occurred is closed to through traffic due to resurfacing of the blacktop surface of the road. The edge of the road is a 6-inch drop-off. Deputies say Bennett’s right side tires went off the edge of the road, and she over corrected, losing control of her SUV, and entering the south ditch, where the vehicle rolled one time, coming to rest on it’s top.
Bennett, and one of her passengers, 6-year old Annaliese Bennett of Primghar, were transported by Primghar Ambulance to the Baum Harmon Mercy Hospital in Primghar with what are described as minor injuries. Bennett’s other two passengers, 2-year old Aiden Bennett of Primghar, and 8-year old Ryan Stowe of Cherokee were uninjured, but were also transported to the hospital by Primghar Ambulance.
Deputies say Bennett was cited for Failure to Maintain Control. Her SUV sustained an estimated $3,500 in damage.
