Two Trucks Destroyed By Fire In Doon

Doon, Iowa — Two trucks were destroyed in a fire on Saturday, April 25, 2026, in Doon.

According to Doon Fire Chief Adam Van Engen, at about 7:25 a.m., the Doon Fire Department was called to the report of a fire in the truck shed at 301 Gere Avenue — the Doon Elevator Company, not to be confused with the Cooperative Farmers Elevator location in Doon, which is a little north of the fire location.

When they got there, the chief says the fire department saw the building was full of smoke. They found a fire in the engine compartment of one of the trucks in the shed. He says the cause of the fire appeared to be electrical in nature.

Chief Van Engen reports that two trucks were lost, ane there was a little structural damage to the building.

Van Engen says no injuries were reported.

The fire department was assisted by the Alvord firefighters as per their auto aid agreement.

He says the firefighters who responded were on the scene for about three hours.
