Vehicle Rolls After Avoiding Deer

deer_sxcSutherland, Iowa — A Sutherland woman’s vehicle rolled after avoiding a deer near Sutherland on Monday, September 7th.

The O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office reports that at about 8:27 am on Monday, 16-year-old Jenna Elrod was driving westbound on Waterman Boulevard southeast of Sutherland in a 2000 Pontiac Grand AM. According to the report, Elrod swerved to avoid a deer that came out of the north ditch, lost control on the gravel road and entered the south ditch where it rolled one time and came to rest on the it’s roof. Elrod was unable to get out of the vehicle, but was assisted by a passing motorist.

No injuries were reported.

The Pontiac received $1500 damage.
