Sibley, Iowa — A Worthington woman was injured in a head-on crash on Highway 9 near Sibley early Thursday afternoon.
According to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office, a 2017 Ram 2500 pickup, driven by 65-year-old Leroy Allen Hassebroek of Little Rock was westbound on Highway 9, when he crossed the center line and struck an eastbound 2015 Chevrolet Traverse, driven by 59-year-old Rachel Maria Leiting, of Worthington, head-on.
Authorities report Leiting had to be extracted from the vehicle by Sibley Fire and Rescue and transported to the Osceola Regional Health Center with possible incapacitating injuries by the Sibley Ambulance.
Deputies estimate damages to the Ram pickup at $25,000, with an estimated $20,000 damage to the Traverse.
Hassebroek did not report any injuries and was reportedly cited for Driving on the Wrong Side of a Two-Way Highway.
