Inwood Man Hospitalized After Car Struck His UTV Near Alvord

Alvord, Iowa– The Iowa State Patrol has just released information about an accident that resulted in an Inwood man being taken to the hospital.

The Patrol reports that on June 5th, 14-year-old Tyree Kammrad of Menno, South Dakota was driving a 2005 Volkswagen eastbound on 200th Street, three and a half miles west of Alvord and a mile north. They tell us that 64-year-old Robert Grotewold of Inwood was southbound on Dipper Avenue in a 2018 Polaris UTV.

The report says that Kammrad struck the Grotewold UTV. The UTV caught on fire and was destroyed. Grotewold was thrown off the vehicle and was found down in the ditch.

The Lyon County Ambulance took Grotewold to Avera Merrill Pioneer Hospital in Rock Rapids.

Kammrad’s Volkswagen sustained $5000 in damages, and Grotewold’s Polaris UTV sustained $20,000 in damages.

Kammrad was charged with violation of conditions of restricted license.
