Sioux Center Woman Taken To Hospital After Accident

Sioux Center, Iowa — A Sioux Center woman was taken to the hospital after an accident in Sioux Center on Tuesday, May 17, 2022.

The Sioux Center Police Department reports that at about 10:00 a.m., 28-year-old Amanda Farmer of Sioux Center was driving a 2003 Buick eastbound on Seventh Street Southwest in Sioux Center. They tell us that 16-year-old Blair Bandstra of Sioux Center was southbound on First Avenue Southwest in a 2011 Dodge pickup.

The report says that both vehicles were approaching the uncontrolled intersection, and Bandstra didn’t see the Farmer vehicle in time. The impact caused the Farmer vehicle to hit a fire hydrant.

The Sioux Center Ambulance took Farmer to Sioux Center Health Hospital.

Farmer’s Buick sustained $3000 in damages, which was enough to total the vehicle, and Bandstra’s Dodge pickup sustained $6000 in damages. The fire hydrant, owned by the city of Sioux Center, received $3000 in damages.

Bandstra was charged with failure to yield to the vehicle on the right.
