Blood Supply Again In Critical Need; Drive Tuesday At Sanford Sheldon

Sheldon, Iowa — Community Blood Bank Executive Director Ken Ver Steeg says he sometimes feels like a broken record, repeating the same message over, and over, and over. But, he says they really are in critical need. And during the pandemic, it’s pretty much stayed that way. Your chance to help is this Tuesday in Sheldon.

He says they’ll be at Sanford Sheldon Medical Center from 8 until 11 a.m. and from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. this Tuesday.

He says in normal years, this is just a partial-day event, but this year it’s a full day.

VerSteeg says it seems like as soon as one critical shortage is solved, another one develops.

He says donors must be at least 17 years old or 16 with a signed parent consent form found at www.cbblifeblood.org, weigh 110 lbs or more, and be in good general health the day of the donation. And if you’ve been outside the United States in the last three years, they ask that you bring a list of the countries and cities that you’ve visited.

For more information, you can visit www.cbblifeblood.org, and you’re encouraged to sign up for a time there as well.
