Calumet Woman Accused Of Stealing More Than $40,000 From Her Employer

Calumet, Iowa — A Calumet woman has been arrested, and faces multiple charges accusing her of misappropriating funds from her Calumet employer.

According to the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office, their deputies conducted a lengthy investigation into a theft complaint from Calumet Carriers in Calumet.  Calumet Carriers is comprised of three businesses: CS Agro, Hicks Electric and Concrete Guys.  In October of last year, the owners of the company contacted the O’Brien County Sheriff’s Office after they allegedly discovered evidence of misappropriation of business funds by their Office Manager.

An O’Brien County Sheriff’s deputy, along with a special agent from the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation completed their investigation into the case last week.

Deputies say that Tuesday, they arrested 32-year old Jamie Riedemann of Calumet on an O’Brien County arrest warrant based on numerous charges filed August 1st.  According to authorities, the charges against Riedemann include one count of 1st Degree Theft, a Class C Felony, three counts of 2nd Degree Theft, all of which are Class D Felonies, three counts of Theft by Credit Card, two of which are Class D Felonies and one of which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor.  There was also one count of Tampering With Records, which is an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

According to authorities, Riedemann is alleged to have used her position as Office Manager at the business to purchase unauthorized items for personal use, create fraudulent reports that inaccurately showed the amount of hours she worked, paid herself for unauthorized claims for reimbursement, and misappropriated company funds to pay for personal expenses.  Deputies say she is also alleged to have removed a record from the company’s records management system to cover up one of the thefts.  Authorities say the alleged thefts from Calumet Carriers totaled an amount of more than $40-thousand.

Authorities say Riedemann was transported to the O’Brien County Jail on a $25-thousand bond.  She was reportedly booked into jail, and later appeared before O’Brien County Magistate Jeffrey Queck, who set an unsecured appearance bond of $10-thousand. Riedemann was reportedly released from jail later in the day.  She will be required to make an appearance in O’Brien County District Court at a later date.

If convicted, a Class C Felony is punishable by up to 10-years in prison and up to a $10-thousand fine, a Class D Felony is punishable by 5-years in prison and up to a $75-hundred fine and an Aggravated Misdemeanor is punishable by up to 2-years in prison and up to a $6,250 fine.  Authorities say the case will be prosecuted by the O’Brien County Attorney’s Office.
