COVID Vaccinations In Four-County Area

Northwest Iowa – As of Friday, more than 20,000 residents of Lyon, Sioux, O’Brien and Osceola Counties had received at least one shot of COVID-19 vaccine, while nearly 16,000 are fully vaccinated, according to a website that tracks county-by-county numbers nationwide.

In the four-county area, O’Brien County has the highest vaccination rate with 36.4%, or 5003 residents having had at least one shot, while 28.8%, or 3959 residents having been fully vaccinated. Sioux County comes in second, with 32.2%, or 11,209 of their residents having had at least one COVID shot and 27.4%, or 8860 residents being fully vaccinated. Third in vaccination percentage is Osceola County where 25.01%, or 1491 residents have had at least one dose of the vaccine and 19.5%, or 1159 residents fully vaccinated. Finally, Lyon County has 23.6% or 2775 residents who have had at least one shot, while 16.9%, or 1983 have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

As for serious adverse effects from the vaccines, in our four-county area less than one-thousandth-of-one-percent have experienced serious adverse side effects.
