Sheldon, Iowa — Summer’s here, and that means more time spent outside, whether for work or play. There are some hazards to being outdoors in the summertime, however. Namely heat, and sunburn.
Dr. Amy Wingert, of Sanford Sheldon, says there are some ways you can protect yourself from the sun when you’re outside this summer.
She says it’s important to stay hydrated when outside in the heat, but surprisingly, she says water is not your best choice for hydration.
Another nasty side-effect of spending time in the sun is sunburn. Dr. Wingert talks about how to protect yourself with sunscreen.
If you do get sunburned, Wingert says there are things you can do to minimize the pain.
Dr, Wingert is a Family Practice provider at Sanford Sheldon. She is a native of southeast Minnesota, and has been in Sheldon for about a year.
