Lane Closures And Construction May Slow Sioux City Trips

Sioux City, Iowa — Northwest Iowans traveling south to Sioux City will have to deal with lane closures and construction on Highway 75 south of Le Mars this summer.

We talked with Dakin Schultz, who is a transportation planner with the Iowa Department of Transportation. He tells us what motorists can expect.

Schultz says there will be no flaggers or pilot cars, but vehicles will need to squeeze into just two lanes instead of four.

He says they anticipate starting work next year on the segment from Hinton to Sioux City. He says the segment of Highway 75 from Le Mars to Sioux City will be under construction for the next several years.

Schultz says the current project is a two-year project and covers both northbound and southbound lanes from Le Mars to Merrill. Cedar Valley Corporation is the contractor, and the estimated cost of the project is $8.2 million.
