Library Announces Renovation Project

Sheldon, Iowa — The Sheldon Library Board of Trustees has announced a major renovation project deisgned to make the library great, to better serve the Sheldon community.

Board Chair Jessica Brink says the Board has invested a significant amount of time developing and planning this project. She talks about what the Board envisions.

Brink says a key component of the library’s transformation is to make it a warm and welcoming environment for all ages while making the most effective use of the space available. While the library is in a great building; the space isn’t used effectively, technology needs of today aren’t met, the environment isn’t inviting or comfortable, and the furnishings are tired and worn out. She says the planned renovation project incorporates changes that will make the library inviting to a wide audience while incorporating technology and learning options.

Brink says that, with the loss of family-friendly options, such as the bowling alley and roller rink, the Trustees believe the library has an opportunity to become a go-to venue for the residents of Sheldon and the surrounding area.

As with every project, Brink says funding is critical.

With the initial $50-thousand  available, Brink says they are seeking donations to cover the $150-thousand balance.

We asked Brink how people could get more information, or make a donation to, the project.
