Missing Woman Last Seen In Orange City Believed Dead

Mead, Nebraska — A vehicle driven by a missing Sioux Falls woman who was last seen in Orange City — has been found in Nebraska with a body near it that authorities believe is hers.

According to Sioux Falls Police Department spokesman Sam Clemens, 76-year-old Kathryn Butler of Sioux Falls went missing about two weeks ago. She was last seen on Wednesday, April 24th in Sioux Falls in the morning and in Orange City at a gas station that afternoon.

According to Clemmens, they were looking for Butler because she had some medical issues and needed to take medication that she apparently left at home.

Clemmens says Butler’s gold Jeep Cherokee was found on Saturday evening, about 7 p.m. in Saunders County, Nebraska near the town of Mead, Nebraska. Mead is west of the Omaha metro area, about fourteen miles south of Fremont.

He says the vehicle was found in field, with a body nearby that is believed to be Butler. According to Clemmens, an autopsy is being done to confirm the identity of the body and the cause of death. Clemmens tells us they have no reason to suspect foul play. He says from what he heard from Nebraska officials, it sounded like the vehicle was found high-centered in a field.
