New Owner Of Downtown Business Buildings Speaks About His Plans

Sheldon, Iowa — Brian Klein is the new owner of four business properties in Sheldon.

We had a chance to talk to Klein recently and he told us about his plans for the buildings. He purchased the buildings that currently hold Travel World, Blossom & Bride Boutique, Sweet Puddle Jumpers, and the United Pentecostal Church. That would be 312, 314, 320, and 322 9th Street, respectively.

He tells us he’s going to take care of “first things first,” as he puts it.

Klein says downtown upstairs apartment living is coming back in style, and he’d like to offer the apartments for rent at some point.

He also tells us he’s very interested in the history of the buildings and he’d like to do some research at some point as to what the buildings have been used for since they were built over 120 years ago. Klein has a special interest in one of the buildings, as his wife, Shannon, runs Blossom & Bride Boutique.

The four buildings were owned by the Lane family and had been since they were built over 120 years ago. Friday’s sale included a fifth building, which was sold to Whitehouse Properties LLC, a real estate investment company owned by Kyle and Charlotte Kunkel of Le Mars. That building has two numbers — 324 and 326 9th Street. It’s the old Wolff building, where Rockman Clothing used to be a number of years ago. We’ll hear from Charlotte Kunkel as to their plans for their building in future newscasts.
